Position Summary
The Chief Financial and Operations Officer is responsible for the following departments and staff: Finance and Human Resources, Buildings and Grounds, Housekeeping, Campus Security, Information Technology, Transportation, and Food Service. The Chief Financial and Operations Officer is a member of the Administrative Team and serves as a non‑voting member of the Finance & Audit, Investment, and Buildings and Grounds Committees of the Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities
Oversees Business Office personnel and uses standard accounting and bookkeeping procedures to keep an accurate, continuous record of the cash and financial position of the school and manage the financial operation of the School.
Supports the Finance & Audit and Buildings & Grounds Committees of the Board of Trustees.
Prepares a quarterly operating statement for the Headmaster and the Finance & Audit Committee
Provides a monthly report of expenditures for the use of each budget center manager
Preparing the annual operating and capital budgets to permit the setting of the succeeding year’s tuition at the December Board of Trustees meeting.
Organizes the annual audit of the school’s financial records and financial position.
Prepares and monitors the long‑term maintenance plan, in collaboration with the Director of Buildings and Grounds, the Trustees’ and internal Buildings and Grounds Committees, and the Headmaster.
Oversees all school purchasing, financial investments, banking activities, payroll, and benefits program.
Manages risk, ensures the safety of personnel and students in the use of facilities, and maintains appropriate insurance levels.
Oversees and coordinates the work of administrative support staff.
Ensures the effective management of all auxiliary enterprises (e.g., summer programs).
Oversees the leasing of all lease‑eligible facilities.
To assist the Headmaster with the evaluation and compensation of non‑faculty support staff.
To represent the school at various regional, state, and national associations.
Acts as the School liaison to the Educational Services of Morris County (ESMC) and coordinates NJ State Non‑Public School Funding entitlements for security, technology, and faculty professional development.
To perform other duties as assigned by the Headmaster.
Minimum Qualifications
Certified Public Accountancy or Master of Business Administration degree strongly preferred.
Catholic school experience is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
Regularly lifting or carrying 1-20 lbs.
Regular pushing/pulling/bending/stooping/kneeling
Regularly climbing stairs
Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours
Requires physical presence, work to be performed on campus
