What to Expect We are the engineers behind the world's largest fleet of smart energy storage systems. We are seeking a talented, motivated, and independent engineer to join the team that works on the heart and soul of Tesla's Energy products. Our team develops applications for the Tesla Site Controller which controls all assets on industrial customer sites including the solar, batteries, generators, vehicle chargers, power meters, and more. It also handles communication with the Tesla cloud and provides data used by customer-facing applications. We deliver exciting features that enable customers to power entire communities using renewable energy.

The Tesla Site Controller applications are written in Golang and Rust and run on a server-class embedded Linux machine. An ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of multi-threaded and async programming concepts, an understanding of Linux systems, a familiarity with object-oriented design and principles, and an eagerness to keep learning in an ever-evolving environment.

What You\'ll Do

Develop high-quality, testable software

Contribute to system architecture and design

Evaluate and improve customer interfaces and telemetry collection

Debug issues in the field and devise solution paths

Collaborate with validation teams to develop integration test strategies

What You\'ll Bring

2+ years of professional software development experience using application layer languages like Golang, Rust, and C++

Embedded Linux systems development experience

Knowledge of protocols such as NATS, MQTT, or OPC UA

Experience with power systems and protocols such as DNP3, IEC 61850 and Modbus are nice-to-have

Experience writing unit tests and practicing test-driven development

Experience with low level networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and socket programming

Comfortable with multi-tasking, prioritizing, and working in a fast-paced environment

Strong communications skills and ability to collaborate other teams across Tesla product lines

Expected Compensation $164,480 - $292,800/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
