Esrock Partners is seeking an experienced agency account director, with expertise in B2B foodservice marketing.
The primary role of an account director is to lead and manage the account management, planning, growth and agency profitability of an assigned set of client accounts. In addition to the primary function, there are several other areas of responsibility that an account director needs to be comfortable with.
Account Management
Ability to manage the day-to-day communications and account management efforts, and responsible for the overall health, financial, brand management, and strategy for assigned client accounts. Reviews major media and public relations plans, and creative strategies and campaigns, and oversees the implementation of approved plans and strategies.
Ability to manage and direct the assigned team, processes and procedures, and how the account machine works, leading by example of expertise, in best practices and guide ethical decisions. Ensures that all assigned accounts remain profitable and continue to grow, bearing final responsibility for account growth and profitability.
Ability to cultivate strong strategic relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and outside strategic partners. Ensures client relations are positive and stable, collaborating and communicating regularly to ensure their goals, wants, and needs are met while coming to the table with effective business-impacting ideas, strategies, and plans.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the industry landscape including marketing, branding, segment, sales, and distribution dynamics, with strong proficiency in modern B2B marketing and how owned and paid digital channels support client strategies and business outcomes.
Ability to speak business, financials, strategy, sales, and not just marketing speak. You need to know the client’s business, brands, products, services, their industry and competitive landscape ensuring all our work strategically aligns.
Ability to align client needs with agency services that provide results to clients and profitable business opportunities to the agency. Actively providing new solutions and ideas for additional new business from clients.
Ability to prepare winning proposals, SOWs, and presentations that display strong communication skills, integrating strategy with viable execution. Present, guide, and defend the agency’s ideas and work. Be a master of meetings – read the room, own the room, and have a presence.
Ability to understand and speak in an educated way about current trends in marketing, industry, and digital technologies. Have an understanding of what’s new, on-trend, and relevant in our world and how it might be applied to our client’s work.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Lead the overall health, planning, and strategic direction of assigned client accounts.
Maintain strong, ongoing senior-level client relationships grounded in trust, value, and proactive communication.
Oversee integrated marketing strategies, creative initiatives, and campaign execution across agency Centers of Excellence (CoE).
Manage account financials, including forecasting, profitability, scopes of work, and growth opportunities.
Guide and mentor Account Supervisors and Account Managers, ensuring clarity, performance, and development.
Collaborate with agency CoEs to ensure strategic alignment and high-quality delivery.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of modern B2B marketing, including the role of owned, earned, and paid channels in driving awareness, engagement, and conversion for foodservice audiences.
Provide strategic guidance on how to use digital owned channels to support client goals, without directly planning or executing programs.
Interpret channel performance insights with IC partners and apply them to refine strategic recommendations.
Lead conversations with clients about the "why," "when," and "how" behind owned and paid channels in integrated plans.
Help clients prioritize channel investments that best support operator engagement and business goals.
Support business development, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities within assigned accounts.
Ensure all work reflects strong strategic thinking, industry insight, and measurable business impact.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate client goals into actionable, integrated marketing plans.
Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and presentation, with the ability to influence at senior client levels and guide internal teams.
Ability to handle ambiguity, make decisions with confidence, and provide clarity across teams.
Deep understanding of modern marketing practices, including B2B strategy, digital owned and paid channels, content programs, and campaign fundamentals.
Strong financial acumen including forecasting, profitability management, scope development, and budget stewardship.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide, mentor, and develop account team members.
Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
Demonstrates proactive problem-solving, curiosity, and the ability to connect dots across CoEs and workstreams.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner effectively with other agency CoEs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry digital workplace tools; ability to quickly learn new systems.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field OR equivalent years of relevant professional experience.
7–10 years of experience in account management, marketing, or related client-facing roles, with agency experience strongly preferred.
Experience leading integrated marketing programs across creative, digital, and communications disciplines.
Demonstrated success owning client relationships, guiding strategy, and managing financial performance.
Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing junior team members.
Additional Work Requirements
This is an exempt, salaried position.
Local, hybrid, and remote work models available; final work arrangement is based on the best-qualified candidate and agency discretion.
Occasional overtime may be required depending on workload and client needs.
Occasional travel may be required.
Physical demands may include standing for periods, walking, bending, or lifting up to 15 lb.
The pay range for this role is $110,000 – $150,000 / year, with the opportunity for eligible employees to earn additional compensation through Esrock’s bonus program. Exact pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, experience, qualifications, certifications, geographic location, and business needs.
