My client is a systems integration firm
providing professional services and advanced control system solutions to industrial clients across sectors including oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, LNG, and power generation.
They are expanding their project delivery team in
Dallas, Texas , and are seeking an experienced
Senior Project Manager
to lead complex automation and control system projects. This is a senior, client-facing role with responsibility for delivering high-value projects from front-end engineering through commissioning and startup.
Position Overview The Senior Project Manager will take ownership of automation and control system projects for a customer base that includes end users, EPC firms, and OEM packagers. This role requires strong commercial awareness, technical understanding of industrial automation, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering and execution teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all phases of projects from FEED through detailed design, commissioning, and startup
Own project scope, schedule, budget, and profitability
Proactively manage scope changes, identify risks, and generate change orders to protect margins
Clearly communicate project scope, timelines, and budgets to internal teams and customers
Develop and maintain project schedules and status reports
Manage and optimize resource allocation to ensure billable utilization
Build and maintain strong customer relationships through effective communication and delivery
Lead and coordinate senior automation engineers, designers, panel integration teams, commissioning staff, and MCC fabrication resources
Support proposal development by reviewing commercial and technical RFQs
Mentor and train junior project management and engineering staff
Collaborate with other internal offices and project teams
Promote and follow corporate health, safety, and environmental programs
Deliver high-quality client service with a commitment to technical excellence
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
PMP certification required
10+ years of project management experience delivering control systems and automation projects
Industry experience in one or more of the following: Oil & Gas, Refining, LNG, Power Generation
Strong experience with project management tools (MS Project required; Primavera and SAP a plus)
Familiarity with major industrial automation platforms, including: Rockwell Automation (PlantPAx, FactoryTalk SE, Logix PLCs), Triconex safety systems
Proven track record of increasing project revenue and profitability through effective project execution
Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills
