Position Summary:
Applied Digital is seeking a VP of Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management to join our growing organization. This role will comprehensively guide the company’s compliance and enterprise risk management strategy across cybersecurity, operational processes, risk governance, and regulatory frameworks, among others. In doing so, this role will ensure the organization maintains the highest standards of integrity, safety, and regulatory adherence, effectively identify and mitigate enterprise risks, and foster a culture of integrity and accountability while enabling business growth. The ideal candidate brings deep experience developing and managing compliance and risk management programs within the data center industry, excellent problem‑solving and critical thinking skills, and a proven ability to work cross‑functionally between and among dynamic business units.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement enterprise‑wide, risk‑based compliance and risk management initiatives, policies, procedures, and frameworks aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry leading practices.
Manage a team of security and compliance professionals to execute all aspects of our compliance and enterprise risk management programs, including policies, issue and risk identification and management, monitoring and testing, and continuous improvement.
Drive internal training and awareness programs to promote compliance and risk‑conscious decision‑making.
Oversee compliance with cybersecurity regulations, frameworks, and data center industry best practices and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC).
Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure robust data protection, incident response plans, and risk management.
Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, environmental health and safety, and related regulations, as well as developing plans to respond to potential catastrophic incidents affecting our facilities.
Collaborate with internal audit, legal, and other operational teams to ensure robust controls and governance.
Regularly advise senior leadership on compliance and risk‑related matters and provide proactive recommendations and innovative solutions on emerging regulatory risks, including third‑party cyber threats to infrastructure and operations and environmental concerns (e.g., climate and water usage).
Support external regulatory examinations, internal audit reviews, and related matters.
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in hands‑on compliance, audit, and/or risk management with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
Demonstrated expertise in compliance processes, regulatory frameworks, cybersecurity regulations and enterprise risk management.
Proven track record of building and leading compliance and enterprise risk management programs and teams in complex, multi‑site organizations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Proven ability to influence at all levels and drive organizational change.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications or advanced degree in legal, accounting/auditing, or compliance management (e.g., JD, MBA, CPA, CRMC, MS, JM, MLS).
Previous experience in the data center industry.
This role does not currently sponsor immigration or work‑authorization visas.
Physical Requirements:
Able to remain in a seated position for an extended period and to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. (e.g., office manuals, case notebooks, standard boxes).
