The Senior Manager, Accounting CoE will lead the team driving the global accounting effort to deliver process standardization, automation of tasks and deliverables, and a reduction in manual efforts through assessment of risk, materiality, and timing in relation to month‑end close. This role will lend thought leadership to identifying the most relevant training offerings for partners, focusing on elevating capabilities across the organization.
Responsibilities
Provide inspirational leadership – communicate vision and strategy, foster a positive team environment, and instill confidence in leadership and teamwork to achieve business results. Champion a growth mindset by relentlessly improving and elevating processes and systems. Influence and build strong partnerships at all levels of the organization.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert – demonstrate deep knowledge of diverse accounting topics and systems. Operationalize accounting concepts to ensure compliance with US GAAP, Starbucks internal control framework, and company policies.
Innovate and collaborate for continuous improvement – lead initiatives across the accounting organization, partnering with Finance Systems, Starbucks Technology, and business unit finance teams. Identify opportunities to optimize processes, strengthen internal controls, leverage technology, establish new workflows, define performance metrics, and manage change effectively.
Develop talent and build high‑performing teams – inspire and grow a diverse team of partners to meet business objectives and challenge the status quo. Attract, retain, and develop top talent through coaching and meaningful development conversations. Continuously assess organizational structure and capabilities to meet evolving business needs.

Qualifications
10+ years relevant and progressive experience.
Proven leadership experience in accounting, managing others including other leaders, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
Strong technical expertise in US GAAP and internal controls, including ability to operationalize the accounting for new transactions and initiatives.
Growth mindset and passion for continuous improvement.
Hands-on experience driving and implementing process improvements, technology enablement, automation options, and leading change management.
Influencing and communicating effectively in a wide range of formats and settings to partners of all levels and disciplines to achieve the most favorable outcomes across the enterprise.
Designing the organization to optimize efficiencies and career development.
Bachelor’s degree required, degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
Experience in ERP system and business intelligence and reporting tools (such as Hyperion and Oracle) strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Blackline and Alteryx strongly preferred.
CPA and/or public accounting experience strongly preferred.
