Lead Product Engineer (Full Stack), Materia AI
Join Thomson Reuters as a Lead Product Engineer for our Materia AI team, where you will build AI-driven software that transforms accounting workflows. This role blends startup agility with global resources, focusing on generative AI capabilities and full-stack development.
About the Role In this role you will:
Own complex, 6+ month projects from ideation to launch, working with cross‑functional partners.
Design, build, and maintain generative AI products such as Conversations, Accounting Research, Ready to Advise, and Workspaces.
Build engaging front‑ends using Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
Develop robust back‑ends with Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, and cloud infrastructure.
Identify bottlenecks and optimize for speed, scalability, and responsiveness across the full stack.
Lead and mentor product and backend engineers, make prioritization decisions, and shape the product roadmap.
Contribute to technical design decisions, architecture, API design, and system integration patterns.
Set and enforce team‑wide frameworks and best practices for front‑end and back‑end development.
Champion UI/UX excellence and deliver polished, accessible interfaces.
Collect feedback from users and stakeholders and iterate accordingly.
About You We are looking for engineers with hands‑on experience across the full stack, capable of both front‑end and back‑end work. You should:
Have 7+ years building web applications at scale.
Be passionate about UI/UX and product design.
Be self‑driven, proactive, and excellent at debugging and performance optimization.
Have experience building new products or features from 0 to 1, or from ideation to release.
Possess strong leadership and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, HCI, or related field (bonus).
Have experience in a startup or fast‑paced setting.
Be familiar with large language models, AI agent design, prompt engineering, and testing methodologies.
