Clinic Nurse, Primary Care (9139C)
University Health Services (UHS)
– a fully accredited comprehensive university health service located at the University of California, Berkeley. UHS provides primary medical care, counseling, psychological services, and health promotion programs for students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities Provide patient care and triage using the nursing process. Key duties include:
Conduct patient assessments, document findings, and develop care plans consistent with UHS policies.
Utilize triage techniques to prioritize patients and provide or arrange appropriate care.
Perform diagnostic tests, administer medications, and assist in patient preparation.
Provide patient education, health teaching, and counseling.
Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in all interactions.
Collaborate with inter‑disciplinary teams and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience in primary care or urgent care settings.
Knowledge of outpatient care principles and ability to triage over the phone and in person.
Proficiency with electronic medical records.
Strong communication, assessment, and documentation skills.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Conduct health history assessments and recognize deviations from normal findings.
Apply psychiatric assessment skills for in‑person and telephonic visits.
Interpret laboratory, radiology, and other test results and make appropriate decisions.
Provide case‑management support and coordinate follow‑up care.
Work efficiently under pressure and manage variable workloads.
Assist patients with insurance and referral processes, especially the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field.
Experience with student health services and university health programs.
Salary & Benefits Compensation range: $64.32 - $78.40 per hour (Step 1 – Step 11). Full‑time 80% (32 hr/week) career position; paid bi‑weekly. Eligible for full UC benefits package.
