State & Local Tax Senior Manager – Indirect Tax Location: Houston, Texas

Role Senior Managers with the State & Local Tax (SALT) practice oversee and complete tax projects, provide innovative tax planning and consulting for a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to venture-backed startups.

Senior Managers Can Expect To

Engage in business development activities (prepare proposals, present in webinars, collaborate with other service lines to market comprehensive tax strategies for prospective clients, etc.)

Lead state and local tax audits, controversy, or refund review process.

Review voluntary disclosure agreements, nexus, taxability studies.

Determine sales tax liabilities based upon multi-jurisdictional revenue.

Maintain communication with clients to ensure satisfaction, meet deadlines, remain current on legislative changes, and lead change effectively.

Research complex client issues and draft technical tax memoranda to address solutions.

Supervise, train, mentor and evaluate the performance of Managers, Seniors and Associates.

Requirements

6+ years relevant work experience in an accounting firm with at least 5 years of indirect tax experience.

Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field (Preferred).

Advanced credential allowing for client representation before the IRS required (i.e., CPA or JD).

Self-starter with initiative to seek out opportunities and ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Proficient use of technology.
