Tax Senior Manager - State and Local Tax Join to apply for the Tax Senior Manager - State and Local Tax role at Andersen Consulting.

The Role Managers within our State & Local Tax (SALT) practice oversee and complete tax projects, provide innovative tax planning, consulting and compliance for a variety of clients, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to venture backed startups.

Managers Can Expect To

Engage in business development activities (i.e., prepare proposals, present in webinars, etc.).

Collaborate with Federal Tax Compliance Groups to ensure a comprehensive multi-jurisdictional tax strategy.

Oversee the preparation and review of complex state and local tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.

Manage state and local tax audits, inquiries, and notices.

Lead consulting engagements and identify client solutions.

Analyze state and local tax legislation and assess its impact on clients.

Conduct technical research and draft memoranda, position papers, and client communications.

Conduct Nexus studies to assess state tax obligations and support registration and voluntary disclosure processes in newly identified jurisdictions. Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate Seniors, Associates, and Interns.

Leverage tax software and tools (e.g., OneSource, GoSystem, Corptax, Alteryx, Power BI, etc.) to streamline compliance processes.

The Requirements

4+ years relevant work experience in an accounting firm, with at least 3 years of Income Tax Experience.

Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree; Accounting, Finance, Economics or related degree (Preferred).

Advanced credential allowing for client representation before the Internal Revenue Service required (i.e., CPA or JD).

Self-starter with the initiative to seek out opportunities and ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and cross-functional teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong knowledge of multistate corporate and pass-through entity tax law and filing requirements.

Proficient in tax software (e.g., Corptax, OneSource, GoSystem).

Salary Range For individuals hired to work in McLean, VA or Washington DC, the expected salary range for this role is $135,200 to $166,800. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and skill set.
