The Director, Offsite Energy Investments – Strategy & Partnerships will lead Walmart’s work to shape the next generation of grid‑scale clean energy partnerships and investment opportunities. In this role, you will identify, evaluate, and advance high‑impact initiatives that strengthen the grid and support Walmart’s long‑term goal of delivering affordable, reliable, and clean energy for our business and the communities we serve. A key focus is exploring emerging technologies and innovative project models that unlock new pathways for system‑level impact.
You will cultivate strategic partnerships, develop new investment approaches, and represent Walmart in key industry and policy forums to influence market conditions that enable offsite clean energy deployment. This position positions Walmart as a catalyst for scalable, forward‑looking energy solutions that create long‑term value and shape the broader energy ecosystem.

Within this organization, the Offsite Energy Investment Team is Walmart’s dedicated group for grid‑connected, utility‑scale clean energy partnerships and investments. We develop projects that add clean capacity, improve grid resilience, and manage long‑term energy costs. Our team works with developers, utilities, policymakers, and industry associations to accelerate clean energy deployment and deliver meaningful value for Walmart and the communities we serve.
This is an onsite role based in Bentonville, Arkansas on our new, state‑of‑the‑art campus – a full relocation package is available.
What you’ll do
Lead the exploration and development of strategic clean energy partnerships and investments, working with developers, utilities, and innovators to advance opportunities that strengthen the grid and expand Walmart at scale.
Shape and advance high‑impact investment concepts—translating early insights and emerging technologies into actionable strategies that leverage Walmart’s footprint, financial strength, and long‑term vision.
Drive priority workstreams with independence and ownership, moving initiatives from concept to execution while navigating complex stakeholders, technologies, and market dynamics.
Collaborate across Walmart’s Energy, Sustainability, Finance, Legal, and Procurement teams to align expertise, remove barriers, and accelerate high‑value projects.
Use AI‑enabled analytics and emerging digital tools to identify market trends, evaluate opportunities, and bring innovative thinking into the partnerships and investment process.
Engage with industry leaders, associations, and policy forums to stay ahead of market and regulatory developments, provide Walmart’s perspective, and shape the landscape for offsite clean energy deployment.
Work with Walmart’s in‑house investment and contracting teams to structure high‑value deals, streamline execution, and bring forward partnerships that deliver measurable impact for Walmart and the communities we serve.
What you’ll bring
Experience in renewable energy markets, project development, or investment evaluation.
Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and clear communication skills.
Familiarity with PPAs, investment structures, or emerging clean energy technologies.
Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and build trusted partnerships.
Comfort driving work independently and navigating ambiguity with sound judgment.
Curiosity and a forward‑looking mindset toward innovation in the energy space.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 – $220,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Stock options may also be included.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or related field OR 7 years’ experience in Finance, Business or related area.
2+ years of supervisory experience in the renewable energy industry.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in the energy industry leading teams focused on origination, development, and/or capital formation for renewable energy projects.
Demonstrable track record of commercializing or executing investments in renewable energy projects and/or securing partnerships in support of such activities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience operating in a large, global organization.
In‑depth understanding of both competitive and regulated energy markets.
Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
