Job Description
As a Senior Trial Attorney you will join the legal frontline, championing the defense for both insured and the Company. Your work will involve subrogation recoveries, bodily injury, property damage claims, trial work and alternative dispute resolution. You’ll provide vital counsel to business clients, coordinate between legal teams, monitor new laws and regulations, and keep our strategies sharp. This dynamic role offers constant challenges and victories.
Key Responsibilities
Represent insured individuals and the Company in bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, and in subrogation matters.
Counsel and assist clients and claim representatives through the litigation process.
Prepare thoroughly for and conduct hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
Prepare and present pre‑ and post‑trial motions effectively.
Assist colleagues in resolving calendar conflicts collaboratively.
Offer counsel to business clients on day‑to‑day legal matters.
Manage projects efficiently, fostering coordination and collaboration among legal teams.
Keep abreast of and evaluate new laws, regulations and case law; identify and summarize relevant issues; collaborate with other areas of the Law and Regulation (L&R) department; provide proactive advice and counsel to business units on the impact of new laws; monitor legal representation.
Education Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Colorado State Bar.
Minimum Requirements
3+ years of proven litigation experience or strong litigation‑type skills, including case strategy development, legal research, advocacy, and the ability to manage complex disputes and work under pressure.
First or second chair jury trial experience is preferred.
Proven experience with insurance defense is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, LexisNexis (preferred), and internet research.
Strong teamwork skills, able to collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative assistants under the guidance of Lead Counsel.
Capacity to manage a substantial case load.
Comfortable working in a remote environment and willing to travel throughout the greater Denver, CO area.
