Sanmina's PCB division offers new opportunities for engineers in chemical engineering, material science, physics, and mechanical engineering. The Yield Engineer will work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to investigate root causes of factory yield detractors and implement lasting corrective actions.
Responsibilities
Implement new methods and capabilities for efficient analysis of manufacturing data for yield improvement. Drive automated publication of standard yield metrics and KPI’s across the factory (PCB fabrication and final test).
Work closely with process engineering and operation teams to improve the effectiveness of in‑line monitors to mitigate end‑of‑line yield fallout. Develop detection methods to prevent defect escapes to customers and identify defects early in the process flow.
Define the yield improvement strategy based on KPI’s, yield pareto’s, and pFMEA’s. Lead focus teams and drive continuous improvement activities using 8D, DMAIC or similar methods.
Drive understanding of the relationship between design attributes and yield. Understand the impact of various fabrication/process methods on yield. Define capabilities versus roadmap requirements. Partner with product engineering and process engineering to source new tools and change processes to enhance capabilities.
Work closely with process engineering, facilities, and equipment engineering to upgrade and source new equipment to improve process stability.
Serve as the focal person for best practice sharing with sister PCB sites.
