Position Summary The Manager of ACO Operations oversees Accountable Care Organization (ACO) programs and strategic initiatives across the Boston Medical Center Health System’s Medicaid ACO network. BMCHS partners with several ACOs statewide to share risk for Medicaid patients as part of MassHealth reform initiatives that transform healthcare via the formation of Medicaid ACOs. The Manager is deployed across the network and works with diverse stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to distill complex processes into clear decision points are essential. The Manager will become a system expert on the ACO program and partner closely with senior leadership at primary‑care provider networks to implement population health initiatives. Proven experience managing improvement projects and leading complex operations projects is required.

Responsibilities

Report to the Senior Manager of Population Health and lead initiatives to improve ACO performance.

Assess internal and external operating processes and workflows, and implement iterative improvements to reduce redundancy and increase efficiency.

Serve as the key liaison between BMCHS and ACO partners, communicating critical information, troubleshooting program issues, and facilitating resolution.

Support MassHealth incentive programs by developing performance‑improvement strategies and ensuring successful implementation with ACO partners.

Introduce new medical expense reduction strategies, monitor performance trends, and collaborate on projects to reduce total cost of care while improving outcomes.

Provide project‑management support for new strategic initiatives across all BMCHS ACOs.

Develop standardized communication plans for cross‑program and cross‑ACO information sharing.

Collaborate with Population Health Analytics to define metrics and reports that demonstrate program effectiveness in managing total cost of care.

Lead centralized efforts around compliance, procurement, and ACO program governance.

Perform additional duties as required.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Arts or Science or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field is desired.

Experience: Minimum 3–5 years leading or contributing to process improvement, managing multi‑stakeholder projects, or supporting operations in healthcare or a related field.

Specific Experience:

3 years of project management experience.

2–3 years of senior/executive stakeholder management.

Experience in an outpatient clinical setting is desired.

Experience in a health‑plan setting and with MassHealth, ACOs, or Medicaid programs is helpful.

Experience with state government procurement processes is a plus.

Skills: Excellent communication, analytical, and project‑management skills; ability to work collaboratively across clinical and operations leaders.

Compensation $96,500.00 – $140,000.00
