Managing Director @ SkyWater Search Partners | Manufacturing Executive Search Leader This role provides full oversight across estimating, sales, field operations, safety, and back‑office functions to deliver consistent margin performance, exceptional customer service, and efficient project execution. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in construction or specialty‑trade operations, has led complex, multi‑team environments, and excels at building scalable systems, developing leaders, and driving operational excellence.

Customer & Market Leadership

Build and maintain long‑term relationships with owners, architects, property managers, and strategic partners.

Represent the organization with professionalism and integrity, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted contractor.

Support growth through referral‑based work and selective competitive bidding strategies.

Financial & Strategic Leadership

Partner with senior finance leadership on forecasting, job costing, budgeting, and margin performance.

Ensure strong financial discipline across estimating, change orders, project management, and billing.

Collaborate with ownership on long‑term strategy, growth planning, and organizational structure.

Leadership & Cultural Alignment

Demonstrate a hands‑off, empowering leadership style focused on developing people rather than micromanaging.

Exhibit high emotional intelligence, humility, and the ability to earn credibility with a tenured workforce.

Communicate clearly and directly, fostering trust with employees, customers, and partners.

Lead with strong values and a consistent commitment to quality workmanship and accountability.

Operational Leadership

Oversee day‑to‑day operations across commercial construction, specialty fabrication, service & repair, and project‑based work.

Ensure projects progress safely, efficiently, and profitably through strong coordination between estimating, project management, superintendents, and field crews.

Lead the full project lifecycle, including bidding strategy, scheduling, materials planning, and quality assurance.

Drive continuous improvement in workflows, communication, and execution standards.

Directly lead superintendents, sales/estimating teams, and key office functions.

Build strong relationships with both union and non‑union employees, fostering a culture of trust, respect, and autonomy.

Support workforce planning, apprenticeship development, and effective crew utilization.

Safety & Compliance

Champion a best‑in‑class safety culture in partnership with industry associations and internal field leadership.

Ensure consistent execution of safety protocols, training programs, site inspections, and compliance audits.

Experience & Background

20+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial roofing, industrial construction, mechanical contracting, or a related project‑based industry.

Strong operational background leading field teams, superintendents, and complex, multi‑phase construction projects.

Experience working with or leading union labor strongly preferred.

Proven success managing safety programs, job costing, scheduling, and customer communication.
