Position Overview The Neurology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position functions as a member of the Neurology team. The APP diagnoses medical conditions, plans and implements interventions, including invasive procedures and evaluates patient responses under the direction of and in collaboration with a physician supervisor or designated attending physician. This APP works with physicians in order to establish a collegial and interdisciplinary patient care environment. The APP is an independent consultant on clinical care issues for patients, families, staff, physicians and other departments.

Qualifications Education

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program approved by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Or graduate of an accredited nursing program including a Nurse Practitioner Program.

Licensure/Credentials

Current Physician Assistant licensure by the State of California Physician Assistant Examining Committee and Board Certified.

OR Current California licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and Board Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

Current AHA or equivalent certification in CPR.

Maintains a current DEA license for schedule 2 drugs and above.

Maintains a current Furnishing Number for medications.

Current BLS and ACLS certification required.

Current California license required.

APP obtains a Furnishing license and DEA license for schedule 2 drugs and above within 6 months of hire and maintains thereafter.

Experience

Working knowledge of health care practices, patient care equipment and products.

Three to five years of related clinical experience in area of responsibility preferred.

Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.

Newly graduated Acute Care Nurse Practitioners welcome to apply.

Skills

Demonstrates ability to evaluate patients physical and emotional status.

Demonstrates ability to provide patient care based on age‑related needs.

Demonstrates current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for Adult and Geriatric patients.

Demonstrates clear credentials check through the AHP process.

Demonstrates ability to clearly set behavioral limits.

Compensation

Hourly Salary Range Min $89.93 - Max $109.32 (Offered hourly rate based on years of experience)
