Overview The General Manager, Gates Oil & Gas, is responsible for the operations, commercial activities and total performance of the North American Oil & Gas assembled product business (Engineering and Services). Addressable product markets include the Upstream Drilling, Upstream Services, Hydrocarbon Transport Systems and downstream Refining & Facilities segments.
Role The General Manager, Gates E&S leads the organization and manages the day‑to‑day execution of all activities related to O&G assembly and commercial activities across North America, focusing on direct engagement with current and potential Oil & Gas end users of Gates products.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for financial performance for Gates E&S across the North American market, ensuring that the business meets or exceeds both its top‑line and bottom‑line results.
Ensures end‑user customer and distribution channel partner relationships are effective for Gates to continuously improve its market‑share position and deliver superior margins; leads the business‑development efforts across the Americas.
Responsible for the safe and efficient operations activities related to product storage, assembly, testing and delivery of high‑ and low‑pressure products.
Establishes and maintains a proactive performance culture committed to continuous improvement in safety, quality, health and the environment.
Ensures continuous synergy between Gates E&S and the other Gates activities in North America, including the Industrial replacement fluid power and power transmission businesses.
Keys to Success
Significant experience in Oil and Gas upstream activities with experience in the provision of products and/or services to the drilling market. Exposure to other core O&G markets (midstream and/or downstream) is beneficial.
Possesses existing relationships with the primary customer base (drilling operators, oilfield service providers, and/or O&G OEM suppliers).
Experience partnering with business leaders to develop and drive strategic initiatives.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to influence and coach across multiple levels within the company and locations, including ability to establish global relationships.
Ability to develop and lead effective and capable plant operations, establishing systematic continuous‑improvement programs.
Leads and provides business‑development direction and business acumen to the Gates E&S commercial team.
Demonstrated understanding of regulatory environments related to the O&G industry, including but not limited to API 7k and 16c standards and recommended practices.
Strong business acumen with the ability to control costs and optimize business performance to translate revenues into bottom‑line results.
Ability to lead from within an organization and leverage fully the skills, experience and knowledge of the O&G organization and the greater Gates global organization.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of progressive operations, management and leadership experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
At least 5 years of experience in commercial activities related to product sales to industrial markets.
Post‑secondary degree or technical diploma preferred.
Proficient with common software tools and experienced with complex business systems and tools.
Pay & Benefits
Full‑time position.
Salary range: $240,000 – $270,000.
Bonus eligible.
Relocation not provided.
Medical, dental, vision insurance and other voluntary benefits; benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire.
Eligible for 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days.
Eligible for flexible time off.
401(k): 3% company contribution and additional 3% company match.
