Summer Camp Unit Leader Join our team at the Greater Philadelphia YMCA. We spend our days positively impacting the summer camp community, helping children reach their potential, and changing lives through age‑appropriate goals.

Responsibilities

Monitor and train staff to ensure effective implementation of programs and activities, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures.

Plan and oversee the implementation of a variety of camp activities that are age‑appropriate and contribute to the overall growth and development of the campers.

Identify, address, and redirect inappropriate behavior in campers and staff.

Ensure appropriate behavior of campers and staff to avoid accidents.

Maintain effective communication with parents/guardians regarding camper and camp activities.

Embodies the GPY commitment to diversity and inclusion, no matter race, color, creed, or gender identification.

Qualifications

At least 18 years old.

High school graduate or equivalent.

Or enrolled in a minimum of 2 years of child development coursework approved by state licensing requirements.

Experience working with children and at least two seasons working as a Y Camp Counselor or a comparable program.

Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and experience working with children.

Ability to lead and motivate a team.

Ability to deal effectively with inappropriate behavior and recognize hazard situations.
