Senior Lead Data Analyst in Firm Analytics. The role focuses on designing, developing, and delivering actionable insights through statistical concepts and analytic techniques such as root‑cause, exploratory, sensitivity, scenario analysis, hypothesis testing, and economic modeling. You collaborate with business leaders and team members to build a cohesive story that informs enterprise decision‑making and influences strategic planning.
Responsibility Summary
Proactively identify opportunities where analytics can inform business decisions and long‑term strategy.
Consult with business owners to understand the problem and independently select appropriate analytic approaches.
Merge, cleanse, and transform complex data from multiple sources, developing advanced logic to structure datasets.
Apply intermediate to advanced statistical concepts and critical thinking to validate logic and outputs against known sources.
Identify data quality issues, collaborate with subject matter experts to propose solutions.
Lead the team in generating a cohesive story that influences senior leaders through tailored communication.
Serve as a technical and functional data subject matter expert across a wide range of areas (product, client, marketing, compliance, branch, etc.).
Educate senior and executive leaders on analytical concepts and best practices.
Consult on data and analytic requirements for database development and system changes.
Participate in industry and trade data communities to bring fresh ideas.
Maintain strong understanding of firm results, key business drivers, and data flows to influence strategy.
Develop, manage, and utilize business relationships and partnerships across the organization.
Document and recommend improvements to processes and controls related to responsibilities.
Identify efficiency and cost‑reduction opportunities; propose solutions and drive implementation.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required; emphasis in finance, business, economics, data science, math, or analytics preferred.
7+ years related analytical work experience.
7+ years experience interacting with database and file storage systems (DB2, IDMS, Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL).
7+ years experience with data manipulation languages such as SQL, Impala, PL/SQL, Hive, Pig, XML.
7+ years experience using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, macros, VBA, charts/graphs.
Advanced knowledge of statistical concepts and analytic techniques (descriptive statistics, forecasting, economic modeling, regression, machine learning, exploratory analysis, variance analysis).
Proficient with visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or MicroStrategy.
Strong analytical, critical, and systems thinking skills.
Skills / Requirements Additional skills that strengthen an application include:
Advanced degree or certification.
Financial services industry experience.
Experience with statistical tools such as SAS, SPSS, R, or Python.
