Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our civil litigation team. This role is well suited for an attorney with a solid litigation foundation who is ready to take on increased responsibility and work across a diverse portfolio of matters in Hartford, CT. The Associate Attorney will handle cases involving insurance defense, professional liability, construction, employment, medical malpractice defense, and long-term care. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement following an initial probationary period and is ideal for someone who thrives in a client-focused, results-driven environment.
Responsibilities
Independently manage a civil litigation caseload from inception through resolution
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal memoranda
Conduct thorough legal research to support litigation strategy
Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
Assist in developing case strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys
Communicate regularly with clients through status updates and written reports
Coordinate with experts, opposing counsel, and internal support teams
Qualifications
Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
Admission to the Connecticut State Bar or eligibility for admission through an adequate UBE score
3-8 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or a related practice area
Experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Ability to manage multiple matters while meeting deadlines and client expectations
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $115,000–$130,000 depending on experience + discretionary bonus
