LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN)
Pay Rate:
$30.00/hour Schedule: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
6:00 AM – 7:50 PM
JOB SUMMARY The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) administers nursing care within the scope of practice as defined by Division (F) of Section 4723.01 of the Ohio Revised Code. The LPN provides direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, licensed physician, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist, or chiropractor. This role supports patient treatment, medication administration, documentation, and coordination of care in a clinical or institutional setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical and Nursing Care Administer nursing care within scope of practice, including oxygen therapy, sterile dressings, catheter insertion, wound irrigation, suctioning, and specimen collection
Perform dialysis treatments, operate hemodialysis equipment, and monitor patients during procedures when applicable
Assist providers with physical examinations, treatments, and laboratory tests
Respond to emergencies by providing first aid, performing CPR, and assisting with patient restraint as required
Administer controlled and non-controlled medications via oral, rectal, topical, intramuscular, and subcutaneous routes
Provide medication education and instructions to patients
Documentation and Medication Accountability Maintain accurate medication accountability and patient records
Prepare, count, stock, and manage medications, medical equipment, and supplies
Observe, document, and report patient conditions, medication reactions, and treatment responses
Prepare and maintain reports and records, including incident reports, medication logs, seclusion/restraint logs, and care plans
Patient Support and Daily Care Take and record vital signs
Assist patients with grooming, hygiene, bathing, and activities of daily living
Administer topical ointments, eye, ear, and nose drops
Reposition patients and respond to patient alarms
Schedule medical appointments and escort patients as needed
Support recreational and therapeutic activities according to treatment plans
Team Support and Supervision Provide work direction, orientation, and training to lower-level direct care staff
Assist hospital aides, orderlies, and attendants in delivering unskilled nursing care
Attend and participate in staff meetings, interdisciplinary team meetings, committees, and in-service training
Administrative and Unit Support Order medications and medical supplies
Maintain cleanliness of nurses’ stations, medication rooms, carts, and refrigerators
Perform clerical duties such as answering phones and filing documentation

Ability to administer injections and perform medical treatments with precision
Strong patient rapport and communication skills
Ability to recognize emergency or threatening conditions and take appropriate action
Ability to understand nursing manuals and verbal instructions
Physical ability to move, reposition, or restrain patients as required
