Location: Hybrid to DC (with remote potential)

About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant to lead the design, optimization, and implementation of AI-enhanced accounting workflows. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with hands‑on experience using AI tools and automation frameworks. This role will help modernize our finance operations by integrating intelligent automation into month‑end close, AP/AR processes, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess current accounting workflows, identify automation opportunities, and develop an AI‑driven process improvement roadmap.
Implement AI tools into daily accounting operations (e.g., data extraction, reconciliations, variance analysis, AP/AR workflows, reporting automation).
Integrate AI models with existing finance systems, including ERPs and designated platforms (FloQast, Ramp, or HighRadius).
Configure and optimize workflow automations, ensuring alignment with accounting best practices and internal controls.
Collaborate with accounting, FP&A, and operations teams to understand requirements and develop scalable automation solutions.
Train accounting staff on new AI‑enabled processes and tools; create documentation and SOPs.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend enhancements.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control frameworks while implementing automated procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA a plus.
3–7+ years of accounting or accounting operations experience.
Proven experience implementing or optimizing finance technology and/or automation tools.
Hands‑on expertise with FloQast, Ramp, or HighRadius (at least one required).
Strong understanding of AI capabilities in accounting (LLMs, OCR, workflow automation tools, API integrations, RPA, etc.).
Solid knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting processes (close cycle, AP/AR, reconciliations, reporting).
Ability to manage projects independently, translate accounting requirements into technical workflows, and communicate clearly with both finance and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with AI automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, UiPath, Alteryx, or custom LLM workflows).
Prior involvement in system implementations, ERP integrations, or finance transformation projects.
SQL or data analysis skills.
