Major Responsibilities
Planning, management, implementation and evaluation of operations/services to insure quality cost effectiveness.
Establishes staffing requirements.
Plans for the appropriate utilization of human resources.
Promotes patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
Monitors quality of patient care and customer satisfaction.
Oversees implementation of measures to improve both quality and efficiency.
Facilitates care delivery in conjunction with a patient-focused care model.
Oversees daily functions of diagnostic and support services to ensure utmost quality of patient care.
Insures compliance with all regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, city, village, accrediting organizations, IDPH, IDNS, ACR and all hospital policies and procedures.
Monitors productivity levels to ensure proper utilization of staff and resources.
Effectively utilizes available reports to make practice improvements.
Responsible for the selection, development, motivation and evaluation of staff.
Recruits, selects, mentors and motivates direct reports to achieve departmental, hospital and personal goals and objectives.
Evaluates and conducts performance reviews for staff on a timely basis.
Coordinates recruitment activities.
Facilitates and promotes retention strategies.
Assesses educational needs of staff and facilitates educational opportunities.
Assists individuals with identifying professional goals and provides opportunities to achieve these goals.
Insures an adequate orientation program for staff.
Monitors and facilitates the resolution of performance and/or employee relations issues.
Builds an open communication atmosphere for employees using tools such as staff meetings, rounding and one-on-one talks to encourage communication.
Responsible for associate satisfaction.
If associate surveys fall below 75%, creates action plans to improve the work environment.
Monitors operational effectiveness, ensuring effective practice management in conformance with administrative policy and external guidelines.
Monitors daily patient satisfaction scores for outpatients, inpatients and ED patients.
If scores are below the 90th percentile, creates action plans to increase scores.
Creates and refines action plans to bring outpatient satisfaction scores to the 95th percentile.
Checks patient comments sections of surveys and corrects any problems or issues.
Ensures all staff are rounding on patients at appropriate intervals.
Prepares and administers budgets to insure adequate personnel, facilities and supplies.
Plans and administers an annual budget and monitors budgetary expenditures, reports and justifies variances on an ongoing basis.
Ensures continuity of management through appropriate selection, development, reward, appraisal and motivation of staff.
Identifies inventory levels and costs of supplies maintained in the area.
Develops new and expanding program proposals with cost/budget implications.
Completes forecasting for upcoming and long-term budgets.
Develops major equipment purchase proposals.
Demonstrates working knowledge of financial reporting tools and resources, including Crystal, Lawson, GE Flowcast, PACs and all Microsoft tools.
Coordinates the budget process and approves the allocation of funds based on review of actual performance and projections.
Maintains effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
Collaborates with physicians, management and other health care professionals to assure delivery of the highest quality imaging services, patient care, customer satisfaction and continual referrals into the imaging areas.
Networks with peers to assure that administrative and clinical standards for imaging services are integrated into the department and hospital services.
Coordinates activities with medical practices to insure timely, cost-effective service delivery within the patient-focused care model.
Creates and maintains orientation checklists for all staff in areas of responsibility, including annual compliance, certifications, licenses, competencies, education and appropriate associate files.
CollaboraT on creation of policies for all areas of responsibility.
Obtains and maintains ACR accreditation for all equipment/modalities.
Insures compliance with governing bodies including state of Illinois, FDA, etc.
Maintains records in support of compliance and acts proactively to discover and ameliorate deficiencies.
Maintains HIPAA compliance for all staff.
Develops, implements and evaluates insurance standards of practice in conjunction with monitoring activities appropriate for the area.
Conducts special projects and studies related to area activities, goals or objectives.
Responsible for personal and professional growth and development.
Keeps abreast of technology innovations and health care trends and issues related to imaging services via literature, events and networking.
Maintains memberships in professional and community organizations.
Participates in activities to enhance professional growth through involvement in professional organizations and continuing education programs.
Seeks professional opportunities for education and advancement in the field, creates learning and growth plans and monitors progress to goals.
Education / Experience Required
3 years of previous management experience focused in radiology/imaging.
5 years previous radiology/imaging experience.
Associate Degree or Certificate in Radiological Technology.
Bachelor of Science degree in Radiology or Health Care Management or equivalent experience.
