The Cardiac ICU (CCU) is a 15‑bed unit that uses advanced therapies and technologies to care for acute patient populations, including acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, congestive heart failure, ventricular assist devices, IABP, Impella, VA ECMO, invasive monitoring, vasoactive medications, continuous renal replacement therapy, and ventilator support. The unit is located in the Klarman Building with a rooftop healing garden. This is a full‑time, 36‑hour weekly, rotating day‑and‑night schedule per diem position.
Job Summary The BIDMC Nursing Mission is to build on a legacy of nursing excellence by caring with compassion, advancing the art & science of nursing, and advocating for the health of patients, families, and communities. As a Clinical Nurse II, you will use the nursing process to provide direct care and support to patients and families. Training, evaluation, and competencies for this role are overseen by a Nurse Leader to the department.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide direct care to patients and make necessary nursing judgments, including systematic assessment, care‑plan formulation, implementation, and evaluation.
Coordinate care, direct assistive personnel, and ensure safe, effective, efficient, equitable, and timely patient‑centered care.
Collaborate with other health professionals to determine healthcare needs and develop trusting relationships with patients and families.
Maintain mandatory education requirements (emergency skills and unit‑based competencies) and pursue continued growth through unit‑based educator or clinical nurse specialist guidance.
Demonstrate commitment to patients, staff, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center values, reflecting the goals of the Medical Center. Maintain responsibility and accountability for patient safety.
Required Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program; Baccalaureate degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
Registered Nurse license required; Basic Life Support Certificate required.
1‑3 years related work experience.
Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate web‑based applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area expertise.

Physical Nature of the Job Medium physical work: exert up to 50 pounds occasionally or up to 20 pounds frequently; require standing and moving throughout the shift.
Pay Range $38.00 – $98.19 per hour (base hourly wage; actual compensation may exceed based on seniority, education, experience, certifications, location, and shift differentials).
