We are seeking a Usability/Human Factors Engineer 2 to join the software development team. This role will develop and sustain integrated, feature‑rich capabilities that promote the modernization of visualization and presentation tools. The engineer will focus on solving user‑experience challenges on a highly complex application used by a wide range of users, working closely with developers, managers, and system engineers to keep the product modern and cutting‑edge.

Responsibilities

Directly conduct usability testing and work closely with product designers and process engineers throughout the entire usability and software engineering cycle (analysis, design, implementation, deployment).

Design and develop user surveys to obtain user feedback.

Use task‑experience tools in each phase of the usability and software engineering cycle.

Research and document user profiles, analysis tasks, workflows, and user scenarios; create user‑interface designs from specifications provided.

Collaborate with developers, managers, and system engineers to keep the product modern and cutting‑edge.

Research and document user workflows, design and create mockups, engage with users, and interact with development teams using tools such as Axure and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

Qualifications

TS/SCI with agency‑appropriate polygraph (active).

Bachelor's degree in cognitive and/or experimental psychology, human‑factors engineering, or an engineering related field (e.g., systems engineering, software engineering, business process engineering). Advanced degree desired.

At least ten (10) years of experience in this field or a related field, with familiarity with task analysis, user‑interface design, and usability testing.

At least five (5) years of user‑experience design and testing experience.

Professional certifications such as Certified Human Factors Engineering Professional, Certified Usability Analyst, or equivalent are desired.
