SUMMARY We are looking for a Director of Fundraising to help drive the continued growth of Tide Rock’s investor base and assets under management. Reporting to our SVP of Fundraising & Investor Relations, the Director will bring a “hunter” mindset to engage new prospective institutional investors, including endowments, foundations, fund-of-funds, pensions, hospitals, insurance, family offices, RIAs, and/or private wealth management firms/platforms. The Director will convey Tide Rock’s unique value proposition that drives best-in-class private-market returns.
12-year firm track record with top decile returns
Top of class realized returns, with 20-50% realized yield for investors in 2025
24% average annual organic growth across every portfolio company year-over-year for the last 12 years
Additionally, the Director of Fundraising will guide new investors through the diligence process and manage inquiries from, and the general needs of, existing investors. The successful candidates will possess strong fundraising experience, specifically with unique products and/or early funds, and exceptional skills in developing interpersonal relationships and educating/selling investors on new models to achieve higher returns.
This is a full-time, in-office position located in Solana Beach, CA or New York, NY.
POSITION AND SCOPE Identify and Source New Investors
Identify and source new prospective institutional investors.
Target a diverse pool of institutional investors, including endowments, foundations, pensions, fund-of-funds, hospitals, and family offices.
Lead fundraising activities specifically for an assigned channel of investors.
Lead Investor Engagement and Pitching
Convey Tide Rock's unique value proposition, which includes a 12-year track record and top decile returns.
Partner with the SVP of Fundraising to pitch investors and guide them through the diligence process.
Serve as the primary point of contact for new investors during the diligence process.
Educate prospective investors on the firm's model and its best-in-class performance attributes.
Leverage an in-depth understanding of private markets positioning.
Sign on new investors and establish the primary relationship with them.
Drive Fundraising Strategy and Positioning
The Director will have active participation in defining strategy to maximize capital formation and position the firm effectively in the market.
Participate in fundraising strategy as a member of the Tide Rock Fundraising team.
Work with the broader Tide Rock team to help define strategy and maximize returns for investors.
Educate and sell investors on new models and unique investment strategies that achieve higher returns.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Five to eight years of fundraising experience with a proven track record as the individual sourcing and signing new investors.
Successful experience with a top placement agent or in-house at an established, diversified alternative asset‑management firm.
Fundraising and investor relations experience with institutional allocators OR in-depth understanding of positioning of private markets to the private wealth space.
Knowledge of, contacts in, and an established reputation in the institutional allocator environment.
Ability to understand and educate investors on unique investment strategies and models.
Highly collaborative communication style.
Positive and creative approach with a “how‑can‑we‑get‑it‑done” mindset.
