US Agriculture is an SEC‑registered investment adviser focused on acquiring, managing, and operating high‑quality, sustainable farmland real estate across the United States on behalf of institutional investors. The Firm is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead institutional capital formation efforts and expand its presence within the farmland investment landscape.
The position may be based remotely or at the Firm’s headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, and requires regular travel.
Role Summary
The Director of Business Development will be a senior, front‑facing member of the US Agriculture Management Team responsible for originating and securing institutional capital commitments for farmland and agriculture‑related investment strategies. This individual will develop and manage relationships with institutional investors and consultants, coordinate fundraising initiatives, and represent the Firm at industry events.
Key Responsibilities
Originate and secure capital commitments from institutional investors, including pensions, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, and family offices
Develop and maintain with institutional investment consultants and gatekeepers
Articulate US Agriculture’s investment philosophy, strategy, performance, and risk management approach to prospective investors
Lead and coordinate responses to institutional RFPs, RFIs, and DDQs in collaboration with internal investment, operations, and compliance teams
Maintain and manage investor and prospect activity within the Firm’s CRM system
Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and investor sentiment within farmland and real assets
Represent US Agriculture at institutional conferences and industry events
Ensure all fundraising and marketing activities align with SEC and Firm compliance requirements
Active member of the management team
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and/or CFA strongly preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in institutional business development, investor relations, or capital markets within real assets, agriculture, or private markets
Demonstrated success raising institutional capital
Strong understanding of farmland and agriculture investments, including return drivers and risk factors
Proven ability to operate independently while collaborating across internal teams
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Solid financial acumen, including familiarity with IRR, NPV, and DCF analysis
Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Willingness to travel extensively
Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will include performance‑based incentives.
