We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Data Products and Infrastructure team, part of the broader Platform Engineering organization. The team owns Snap’s largest data processing pipelines and Big Data Infrastructure, powering real‑time user event ingestion and aggregation at scale for key verticals such as Messaging, Story, Media Delivery, Ads, ML Platform, and more. This hands‑on role requires strong technical expertise and the ability to manage critical data pipelines that directly impact daily active users, revenue, and growth.
What you’ll do:
Manage and mentor a team of backend and full‑stack developers in a fast‑paced, quick‑to‑market environment
Build infrastructure for large‑scale distributed data processing at Snap
Set strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead the team to delivery
Collaborate with Product, Operations, Data Science, Engineering teams, and executive stakeholders
Evaluate technical trade‑offs of major decisions and serve as a strong technical mentor
Hire, grow, and retain high‑performing team members
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Background building high‑availability, mission‑critical systems
Experience leading engineering teams
Ability to lead and execute large, complex technical initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent experience; or Master’s degree with 7+ years of post‑grad experience; or PhD with 3+ years post‑grad experience
8+ years post‑Bachelor’s software development experience
1+ years managing a team of engineers
Experience building large‑scale distributed systems
Experience with big‑data processing and pipelines
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with large‑scale initiatives from ideation to completion
Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi‑stakeholder environments
Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Trino, BigQuery, and Spark.
Compensation In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone determining the salary range. The starting pay will be based on job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): $229,000‑$343,000 annually.
Zone B: $218,000‑$326,000 annually.
Zone C: $195,000‑$292,000 annually.
All positions are eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
