Hiring Range: $77,000 – $105,000

About This Position The OSU New Product Development Center (NPDC), an engineering extension unit of the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology at Oklahoma State University, provides Oklahoma manufacturers and inventors with university-based research teams to develop and commercialize new product concepts. These efforts may include evaluating the characteristics of existing products, establishing the status of technology, evaluating the business and financial implications of new product implementation, developing new products, updating a current product to lead the market, integrating new technology or broadening market shares with new product features.
The NPDC is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to work in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Senior Design Engineer provides the leadership necessary to achieve the mission and goals of the NPDC by managing and completing product development projects for clients. They provide expertise and guidance in the area of mechanical design, work closely with the project team and manager to achieve desired outcomes, and allocate resources appropriately to assure successful project completion. The Senior Design Engineer coordinates with NPDC business and technical staff to complete multi‑disciplinary projects, engages cross‑campus resources, and develops effective relationships with clients.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Agricultural, Bio‑Systems Engineering, or related field (degree must be conferred on or before the agreed‑upon start date)
5 years of industrial experience, including hands‑on working experience in the industry on new product development. Familiarity and experience with more than one type of rapid prototyping equipment (SLA, SLS, FMS, Z‑corporation rapid prototyping equipment) including hands‑on experience with CAD software (Solidworks, Pro‑E, NASTRAN, or similar), ability to repair different mechanical equipment; or a Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Agricultural, Bio‑Systems Engineering and three years of industrial experience as listed above
Skills, proficiencies, and/or knowledge: Good communication and laboratory skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Solid modeling, and project management; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Engineering degree
5 years of industrial experience
Certifications, registrations, and/or licenses: Professional Licensing (PE) degree in any engineering field, project management certification.
