Risk & Compliance Headhunter ‑ Ex‑Military Careers Ambassador
Broadgate is partnering with a fintech lending start‑up to find a Credit Risk Manager / Director and a Fraud Risk Manager / Director.
Base Pay Range $180,000.00 / yr – $225,000.00 / yr
Key Accountabilities 1. Portfolio Resilience & Risk Control
Design and execute a credit strategy capable of withstanding significant stress scenarios without materially degrading gross margin.
Proactively identify emerging loss trends and implement short‑term policy or rule adjustments to mitigate risk.
Ensure credit losses remain within expected performance ranges at acquisition and through early lifecycle stages.
2. Credit Policy Optimization
Own and iterate approve/decline logic, credit line assignment, pricing, and loan term policies.
Use data‑driven experimentation to improve unit economics and portfolio outcomes.
Continuously test hypotheses through controlled experiments and translate learnings into production policies.
3. Profitability & Experimentation
Identify and launch experiments that improve gross profit through credit policy changes.
Deliver measurable, incremental profit impact through disciplined testing and iteration.
Build a track record of cumulative gross profit generation attributable to policy and strategy enhancements.
4. Analytics & Decision Support
Perform advanced, end‑to‑end analysis independently, from data extraction to insight generation.
Ensure analytical outputs are technically accurate and suitable for executive‑level decision‑making.
Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.
5. Stakeholder Influence & Communication
Effectively challenge and defend credit decisions through data and logic.
Communicate risk trade‑offs clearly and confidently to cross‑functional and senior audiences.
Balance openness to feedback with the ability to persuade others to adopt necessary but potentially unpopular risk actions.
Required Experience & Capabilities Experience
Meaningful experience in consumer credit risk, with exposure to:
Non‑prime or near‑prime lending and/or
Emerging market or LATAM consumer lending environments.
Depth of experience sufficient to operate independently at a senior IC level (typically ~6–12 years overall).
Technical & Analytical Skills
Advanced SQL and strong analytical self‑sufficiency; work does not require routine validation by others.
Strong understanding of credit performance, loss drivers, cohort analysis, and profitability trade‑offs.
Experience designing, running, and interpreting controlled experiments in a lending environment.
Operating Style & Mindset
Highly autonomous, with strong judgment and a bias toward action once context is understood.
Naturally risk‑aware and detail‑oriented, with a healthy skepticism toward surface‑level explanations.
Comfortable operating in fast‑growing, resource‑constrained environments where impact is driven by personal effectiveness.
