Base Pay Range
$120,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of payroll processing for a construction organization with a union workforce. This role requires deep knowledge of union payroll, prevailing wage, multi-state payroll, and LPC (Labor Productivity/Payroll Cost) tracking. The Payroll Manager will ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll execution while partnering closely with HR, Accounting, and Project Management teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for union and non-union employees in a construction environment
Ensure compliance with union agreements, collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), and prevailing wage laws
Oversee LPC tracking, including labor cost reporting, job costing, and productivity metrics
Review and reconcile payroll reports, union dues, fringe benefits, and benefit fund contributions
Prepare and submit certified payroll reports and union reports accurately and on time
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including multi-state tax requirements
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll audits, union inquiries, and government reporting
Partner with Accounting to reconcile payroll, labor costs, and general ledger entries
Maintain payroll systems, improve processes, and implement efficiencies and controls
Train, mentor, and support payroll staff as needed
Respond to employee payroll questions professionally and confidentially
Required Qualifications
5+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a management or lead role
Strong experience with union payroll and construction payroll
Hands‑on experience with LPC tracking, job costing, or labor productivity reporting
In‑depth knowledge of prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements
Experience processing payroll in multiple states
Proficiency with payroll systems and timekeeping software (e.g., ADP, Viewpoint, Paylocity, or similar)
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification
Experience working with large union locals and benefit funds
Experience supporting audits and compliance reviews
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
