The Team Black & Veatch’s Governments & Communities unit focuses on infrastructure for municipalities, state, local, and federal agencies. In the Industrial Water solution, we deliver lifecycle water, wastewater, and stormwater projects to commercial and industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities
Business development:
Lead marketing and strategy development
Prospect identification, proposal development, preparation, client presentations, budgeting and contracting for opportunities
Accountable for new business objectives and overall project performance
Project management:
Interact with assigned clients and promote Black & Veatch through client and community activities
Support development of market business plan, strategies, client engagement and leverage technical and management resources to advance market footprint
Project execution:
Oversee engineering managers
Develop project performance goals and ensure implementation
Engage internal project team and owner representatives on activities
Perform or assist with budgeting, invoicing, payments and lead performance reviews
Staff management:
Develop, mentor and coach team performance
Recommend training and promotion of assigned professionals and develop new candidates
Management Responsibilities Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team, which may vary by project.
Preferred Qualifications
20+ years of active water/wastewater experience with leadership in the industrial sector
Professional Engineering License; Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline
Understanding of budgets and financial metrics
Contract negotiation skills, including knowledge of terms, risks, pricing and payment terms
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Work Environment & Physical Demands Typical office and construction environments, extreme weather, high noise, safety hazards, chemical exposure. Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, reaching, stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds.
