Job Description A cost estimator is a professional who analyzes and determines the projected expenses associated with a particular project, product or service. Their role is to assess materials, labor, equipment and overhead costs to provide accurate estimations of total expenditures. Cost estimators evaluate project specifications, create detailed cost breakdowns, and identify risks and cost‑saving opportunities. Their work informs budgeting, pricing and resource allocation, ensuring projects are financially viable.

Responsibilities
Project Cost Estimation
Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, structural, environmental, civil engineering, filling & packaging, chemical industry.
Expert level knowledge in at least two of the above fields, or high‑level experience in four areas.
Create detailed line‑item (Class 3‑4) cost estimates, review work orders, programming documents and design documents.
Proficient in cost estimating software: RS Means, ProEst, Procore.
Proficient in CAD programs: AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD P&ID, Revit, Navisworks, Inventor.
Use Autodesk Construction Cloud and the Cost Module within ACC.
Expert level proficiency in MS Office/Excel.
Proficiency with On Screen Take‑off OST, Bluebeam REVU, Matterport.
Perform economic analyses: NPV, IRR, depreciation methods (Straight line, Double declining, MACRS).
Provide accurate estimates for manufacturing projects, using MasterFormat and CSI codes.
Research material prices, labor rates, equipment costs and stay current with market trends.
Determine required quantities of materials, equipment and labor; read drawings, perform take‑offs.
Evaluate risks and uncertainties, incorporating contingencies.
Develop geographical pricing strategy.
Project Management
Use problem‑solving and project management methodologies.
Participate in division‑level programs and serve as key team member on project teams.
Manage multiple design and continuous improvement projects and milestones.
Key member of cross‑functional Global Supply Chain project teams.
Work on teams of 1‑6 people through all stages of the project life cycle.
Assist project managers with schedule development for assigned projects.
Communicate with internal customers, project managers, engineers and stakeholders.
Problem‑solve and adapt estimates based on constraints (schedule, cost, quality).
Manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks and deliver accurate estimates on schedule.
Collaborate with architects, engineers and contractors; possess strong teamwork skills.
Focus on cost optimization; propose value‑engineering ideas.
Engineering Services Consultant
Evaluate and assist in qualifying equipment vendors and contractors.
Recommend mechanical contractors and equipment vendors.
Obtain quotations from vendors for specified equipment.
Participate in peer review of drawings and technical documentation.
Advise team on economic recommendations during project scoping.
Identify opportunity areas within global supply chain engineering and operations.
DBIA certification desired.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
At least 18 years old.
Legally authorized to work in the country without sponsorship.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering.
Seven years engineering experience.
Experience developing Scope of Work documents and approving vendor bid packages.
Experience with ProEst, Procore, RS Means, AutoCAD, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project.
Project management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Construction Management).
ASPE training or certification.
Experience with continuous improvement (lean, transactional lean, root cause analysis).
Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt).
