This role provides design, development, and production release of products and custom solutions for the transportation industry. It involves a significant amount of new platform and design work.
Job Description:
Have significant experience leading full product cycles.
Design sheet metal and plastic parts for injection molding.
Have extensive experience working with integrated electronic products.
Be able to work on accelerated project timelines from concept to tooling release.
Take full ownership of designing and creating mechanical components and assemblies.
Initiate 3D modeling and designs for manufacturing (DFM); make adjustments and modifications to existing 3D models.
Create mechanical engineering design specifications and generate various concepts for entire Clients product line.
Own both new product development and product maintenance activities.
Create 2D drawings, check and release; validate samples and products.
Work hands on with design team build and validate prototypes.
Ensure all tasks follow internal operating procedures and standards while adhering to schedules for mechanical design projects.
Create and maintain proper mechanical component validation & documentation, and issue Product Change Notifications.
Ensure collaboration within design teams and own product outcomes.
Facilitate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the work product exceeds expectations.
Required:
Applicants must submit a portfolio showcasing their relevant projects, designs, or technical work.
BS in Mechanical Engineering
7 years of experience in 3D mechanical design of injection‑molded, sheet metal, and/or machined parts
7 years of experience using SolidWorks design software
Experience/knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, mold design & tooling, and production processes
Skilled in integrating electronic components into mechanical assemblies
Proficient in designing or specifying cables and connectors
Adept at processing ECOs/ECNs within a PLM or ERP system
Ability to work in a fast‑paced professional environment
Preferred:
Successful demonstration of full scope product development projects, owning and driving a project to completion as the lead engineer.
Expertise of SolidWorks design software
