This role involves designing, developing, and releasing products and custom solutions for the transportation industry, with a significant amount of new platform and design work.
Responsibilities
Lead full product cycles.
Design sheet metal and plastic parts for injection molding.
Work with integrated electronic products.
Operate under accelerated project timelines from concept to tooling release.
Own design and creation of mechanical components and assemblies.
Initiate 3D modeling and manufacturing designs (DFM); adjust existing 3D models.
Create mechanical engineering design specifications and generate concepts for the entire product line.
Own new product development and product maintenance activities.
Create 2D drawings, verify and release; validate samples and products.
Build and validate prototypes with the design team.
Ensure tasks follow internal procedures and standards while meeting project schedules.
Maintain mechanical component validation & documentation, issue Product Change Notifications.
Collaborate within design teams and own product outcomes.
Facilitate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to exceed expectations.
Required
Portfolio showcasing relevant projects, designs, or technical work.
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
7+ years of experience in 3D mechanical design of injection‑molded, sheet metal, or machined parts.
7+ years of experience using SolidWorks.
Experience with sheet metal fabrication, mold design & tooling, and production processes.
Skill integrating electronic components into mechanical assemblies.
Proficiency in designing or specifying cables and connectors.
Experience creating detailed engineering drawings.
Adept at processing ECOs/ECNs within a PLM or ERP system.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced professional environment.
Preferred
Demonstration of full‑scope product development projects, owning and driving a project to completion as the lead engineer.
Expertise in SolidWorks design software.
