Job Summary Supports FIU’s School of Music in all activities related to undergraduate and graduate recruitment, admissions, enrollment, retention, matriculation, program marketing, FTIC retention, and graduation.
Responsibilities
Coordinates the School of Music academic support services, including recruitment, enrollment management, retention planning, implementation, and monitoring strategies for undergraduate and graduate students.
Travels and prepares presentations to participate in major recruitment events such as the Florida Music Educators Association, school information sessions, open houses, college fairs, showcases, orientations, transfer student workshops, and social networking events.
Creates reports for the Director of the School of Music and Area Coordinators that communicate the status of all academic support services and activities.
Manages the GetAcceptd site, enters all student admissions status into the PantherSoft system, and generates admissions and recruitment reports.
Communicates with applicants and students throughout the audition and admissions process, assists with troubleshooting issues, and approves exceptions.
Orders and maintains recruitment materials; assists in the development of publications, brochures, and a media plan to enhance recruitment efforts.
Monitors FTIC students, identifies at‑risk students, and develops interventions to assist them.
Maintains the transfer student equivalency database, documents requests and outcomes, and prepares transfer packets for advisors and faculty.
Submits approved transfer course equivalents to PantherSoft and assists transfer students throughout the equivalency process.
Serves as a university card user for departmental transactions, adheres to credit card policies, and maintains accountability for the department ProCard.
Provides backup support for faculty/student traffic and phone calls.
Oversees the preparation of concert programs and other student academic programming functions such as recital procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or a Master’s degree.
Desired Qualifications
Degree in Music, Performing Arts, or a closely related field.
Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., GetAcceptd) and student information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft).
Demonstrated ability to gather and interpret data to prepare reports.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
