Role Summary In this role, the Component Application Engineer will be supporting assigned tasks related to managing electronic component selection and maintenance of part library working with broader component engineering team responsible for various hardware designs for current and next generation of Rivian electric vehicles.
Responsibilities
Responsible for Arena Parts library maintenance from component engineering point of view.
Support component engineering team to implement multi‑sourcing in our design, manufacturing flows and drive part life cycle maintenance.
Partner with Purchasing and Program Management teams to make sure there is alignment between part availability, cost, and planned build dates for hardware.
Support design engineering in the selection of electronic components for their applications.
Generate internal part numbers for new part requests for new designs in the Arena PLM database.
Scrub Bill of Materials (BoM) to ensure compliance to application requirements (AEC‑Q, electrical/mechanical, temperature grade).
Manage the supply chain lifecycle for electronic components (EOL/LTB, PCNs, etc.).
Support supply chain during clear‑to‑build (CTB) reviews by identifying alternate components for known shortages.
Contribute to overall process and workflow development between the cross‑functional team.
Report weekly status to management on progress for expected deliverables and highlight risks.
Qualifications
Experience in component engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.
Prior experience in analyzing and evaluating new or improved electronic components.
Understanding of Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) and ECAD tools (Altium, OrCAD) for applicable component responsibilities.
Knowledge of AEC‑Q qualification process.
Electrical Engineering Design/Test background.
Altium experience.
Pay Disclosure Salary Range for Palo Alto, California Based Applicants:
$117,200.00 - $146,500.00
(actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Salary Range for Irvine, California Based Applicants:
$107,800.00 - $134,800.00
(actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
