Health Compliance Inspector, Home Care Services – FAA00884 (HP III) Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is seeking a Health Compliance Inspector to oversee the safety and quality of licensed and certified home care agencies across Colorado.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive surveys and investigations of home care agencies to evaluate the quality of care, services, and patient outcomes.

Observe, interview, and review records to assess compliance with state and federal regulations.

Analyze evidence and determine regulatory compliance, applying professional judgment and established guidance.

Develop clear, concise, and legally defensible statements of deficiencies.

Investigate complaints and incidents and determine facility responses.

Serve as a resource and educator for health care providers and consumers by interpreting regulations and promoting compliance expectations.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support consistent enforcement and quality improvement.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 6 years of applicable health‑care experience in a facility or program regulated by the HFEMSD, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ownership of a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Social Work, or a closely related field (a master’s may substitute for the required experience).

Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time across Colorado and work flexible hours.

Proficiency in word processing and communication technology.

Willingness to perform health‑care related duties including PPE use and annual influenza and COVID‑19 vaccination.

Preferred Competencies

Experience evaluating quality of care through observation, record review, and interviews.

Proven ability to write clear, defensible statements of deficiencies.

Strong critical thinking and judgment.

Excellent conflict‑management and professionalism.

Capacity to manage competing priorities independently or within an interdisciplinary team.

Compensation and Benefits Starting salary: $66,024 annually (for non‑state employees). State employees maintain current salary if hired.
