Position Summary
The Vice President of Packaging Development & Engineering is a key senior leader responsible for setting the strategic direction of the packaging function and overseeing all technical development, engineering, and component innovation for Batallure Beauty’s portfolio of clients. As a member of the Leadership Team, this individual will guide the organization on packaging strategy, feasibility, cost, sustainability, and supplier capabilities.
This role leads a high‑performing team, manages global supplier partnerships, and ensures flawless execution across multiple, simultaneous development programs in a fast‑paced environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in beauty or personal care packaging, strong leadership skills, and a passion for creating innovative, brand‑enhancing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
Lead, mentor, and develop the Packaging Development & Engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Serve as a key member of the Leadership Team, contributing to company‑wide strategy, operational excellence, and cross‑functional alignment.
Enhance organizational capability with best‑in‑class processes, tools, and standards for packaging development.
Set the vision and roadmap for packaging innovation, including sustainability, materials, component design, and new technology implementation.
Evaluate and recommend packaging concepts that enhance brand positioning, consumer experience, and cost competitiveness.
Guide clients and internal stakeholders on feasibility, risks, and technical considerations.
Ensure timely execution of all packaging workstreams—from concept through commercialization, testing, validation, and scale‑up.
Troubleshoot technical challenges and provide expert guidance to resolve issues efficiently.
Identify best in class suppliers. Manage strategic supplier relationships across global component, materials, and packaging manufacturers.
Negotiate timelines, costs, and capabilities to ensure optimal outcomes for Batallure Beauty and its clients.
Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements in quality, service, and innovation.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product Development, Operations, Quality, Finance, Marketing and Client teams to align on project objectives, costs, timing, and risk mitigation.
Support client presentations and technical communication, acting as the packaging subject matter expert.
Qualifications
15+ years of relevant experience in packaging development, engineering, or component innovation within the beauty or personal care industry (brand or component supplier experience required).
Proven success leading packaging teams and managing complex development pipelines.
Strong understanding of beauty packaging materials, technologies, engineering principles, sustainability, and global manufacturing.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Excellent problem‑solving skills; resourceful and solutions‑oriented.
Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.Ability to
Effective communicator capable of presenting complex information clearly to clients and executive stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
This position is an on‑site role based in Princeton, NJ and with occasional local travel to suppliers and filler locations.
Base salary range $225 - 265k, + annual bonus
