Renewable Energy Design Lead – Stantec Join Stantec as a Renewable Energy Design Lead to deliver innovative, sustainable design solutions across urban, suburban, and rural communities.

Your Opportunity The Design Lead is accountable for leading the Project Technical Team to develop and deliver the most appropriate design for construction on budget and in accordance with the overall project program. The role works closely with the Project Manager and Technical Leads to ensure efficiency, quality, and integrated design solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities

Deliver outputs on time and within allocated budgets, ensuring they are endorsed by the client.

Ensure all technical outputs conform to the project scope, are safe, and meet quality standards confirmed by independent review.

Manage scope change through established systems and processes.

Deliver design to the required quality standards using diverse teams.

Manage multi‑disciplinary teams in a professional services or project delivery environment.

Exercise independent judgement and initiative to resolve complex issues.

Act as a subject matter expert applying advanced practical and theoretical knowledge.

Work inclusively with the client and key stakeholders to develop technical solutions and present outcomes throughout the project life cycle.

Plan technical delivery activities, coordinate technical resources, and track progress.

Implement sound and efficient methodology, lead planning and production of deliverables, and ensure safety, innovation, and sustainability are addressed.

Provide regular monitoring and reporting on schedule, budget, quality, resources, and scope, and recommend corrective action.

Communicate and coordinate all quality reviews, schedules, status, and modifications with Design Quality teams and Discipline reviewers.

Coordinate with program leads to estimate design budgets and develop delivery schedules.

Identify and mentor technical staff.

Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities.

Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and Stantec Quality, Safety & Environment Systems and Project Quality Procedures.

Minimize and control risk by commitment to the Stantec Quality, Health & Safety programs.

Other duties as reasonably required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Requisite knowledge and application of national civil code and applicable energy codes.

Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and relationship between drawings and specifications.

Strong knowledge of civil systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.

Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.

Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.

Participates and collaborates in project team settings and engages in creative and critical thought.

Advanced understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.

Strong presentation and interview skills.

Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.

Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software including AutoCAD Civil3D, GIS, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, and PondPack.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.

Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Minimum of 5 years of experience.

Pay Range

Locations in VT, CA, NY Areas – Min $75,100 – Max $108,900

Locations in CO, HI, MD, CA, NJ Areas – Min $82,600 – Max $119,800
