Job Description AECOM Transportation is seeking a results‑focused State Business Lead / Senior Project Manager to support current leadership and contribute to the Business Line’s growth in several areas of the Midwest and Southwest. The role will drive large Traffic and ITS projects with Local and State Agencies, focusing on business development, technical leadership, and project delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead mid‑ to large‑size Traffic/ITS projects.

Business development: prospecting, proposal development, and maintaining relationships with local clients including DOTs, counties, and other agencies.

Manage alternative delivery project prospects, proposals, and procurements.

Provide specialized technical input to studies, design, and technical specifications.

Approve and sign off on work and perform quality‑control reviews of designs and calculations.

Present complex technical solutions to clients.

Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high‑quality, cost‑effective work.

Lead and manage project teams and budgets, ensuring schedules meet client requirements.

Act as a technical advisor across all phases of PA/ED and PS&E packages.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of residence and elsewhere.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

Project Management experience in transportation projects.

Experience using traffic simulation software and design platforms.

Proactive communication and leadership of department staff.

Established relationships with local and state clients and familiarity with DOT and county policies.

Alternative delivery project experience.

Strong business‑development capabilities with municipal, regional, and state decision‑makers.

Additional Information

This position does not offer sponsorship now or in the future.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. Expected range: $120,000.00 – $180,000.00.
