Duties & Responsibilities
Advanced assistance related to care and monitoring of anesthetized patients.
Application of major anesthesia monitors and anesthesia machines for general, spinal, and epidural anesthesia.
Airway management interventions including tracheal intubation, fiber optics, or ventilatory support.
Maintenance of department equipment such as electronic monitors, anesthesia machines, ventilators, and warming machines.
Preparation of anesthesia equipment for general and specialty cases (e.g., liver and kidney transplant, cardiac, malignant hyperthermia).
Specialty equipment checks and set‑ups including EV1000 arterial line, Rapid Infuser, ultrasound, and TEE machine.
Maintenance and restocking of anesthesia carts and specialty carts.
Equipment troubleshooting, repair coordination with manufacturers and service representatives.
Assistance to personnel regarding equipment questions and problems.
Inventory management of anesthesia supplies used in operating rooms.
Planning and assigning work of subordinate personnel; adjustment of work assignments for adequate coverage.
Selection and training of lower level employees; instruction of new personnel in techniques and procedures.
Assumption of responsibilities of the Anesthesia Supervisor during absences.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent.
One (1) year (12 months) of experience in a hospital setting involving anesthesia machines, gases, and related equipment.
Two (2) years (24 months) of experience comparable to that gained as an Anesthesia Assistant.
Preferred Qualifications
Anesthesia Tech Certification.
