As the Director of Supply Chain Operations, you will lead development, implementation, and administration of supply chain operations for Backus Hospital, Windham and the Plainfield Emergency Department. Core responsibilities include inventory management, distribution, receiving, clinical alignment, print management, mailroom and courier operations. The role involves strong involvement in clinical care redesign and participation in clinical value team committees and initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
Manages day‑to‑day distribution and supply management operations for the East Region.
Develops and implements methods and systems for improving operational efficiencies, controlling supply inventory, and optimizing processes.
Maintains effective communications with hospital executives, department heads, suppliers and others to ensure efficient operations.
Provides leadership, guidance and support to physicians and staff, fostering understanding of supply chain best practices to meet operational and financial goals.
Works with system supply chain leadership to develop goals aligned with regional and system objectives, executing system initiatives at the site level.
Ensures adequate supply levels and coordinates timely supply distribution.
Develops and implements cost‑reduction strategies and determines budgetary needs for designated areas, managing the prescribed budget.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain management/operations.
Healthcare experience preferred.
Knowledge of procurement, receiving, distribution, replenishment, and equipment management principles.
Understanding of accounting principles, cost analysis, standard costing, statistical control, and other cost‑management and process‑improvement concepts.
Strong working knowledge of supply chain ERP systems, including clinical and non‑clinical inventory management.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
