Role Overview Founded in 1989 in Seattle, Cutter & Buck is a service-driven company that distributes multiple sportswear brands and is a brand in its own right—renowned for exceptional quality, timeless design, and a long-term commitment to sustainability. As Global Design & Creative Director, you will lead the creative vision for Cutter & Buck and influence design for partner brands. This role combines apparel design leadership with communication design oversight to ensure our brand story is expressed consistently and compellingly across product, packaging, digital, and marketing touchpoints. Your objective: make Cutter & Buck more attractive and desirable to women and men worldwide while introducing new Market Winning Products that build growth onto our strengths.

Our Location Our Seattle Fulfillment Center (SFC) is located in the heart of the Ikea Commercial District where we have 200,000 square feet of state of the art production and inventory. We maximize our facility with two shifts of production, five days per week. We enjoy a culturally diverse workforce and promote team orientated solutions to delight our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Elevation:

Shape and execute a global design and creative strategy that enhances desirability and emotional connection with consumers.

Global Consistency:

Establish and maintain Cutter & Buck’s design DNA across regions while adapting to local consumer preferences.

Sportswear Design Leadership:

Launch and expand new concepts, color direction, and material innovation rooted in timeless design and sustainability.

Communication Design Influence:

Oversee visual identity and creative direction across packaging, digital assets, and marketing campaigns to ensure cohesive storytelling.

Multi-Brand Partnership:

Collaborate with distributed brands to influence design and creative alignment with market trends and quality standards.

Team Development:

Build and inspire a world-class design and creative team; foster collaboration across merchandising, sourcing, and marketing.

Trend & Market Insight:

Translate global fashion, sportswear, and lifestyle trends into commercially successful collections and compelling brand narratives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with Merchandising, Marketing, and NWG Sourcing to deliver new or expanded product series as quickly as possible and as often as possible.

Sustainability Leadership:

Champion sustainable materials and processes in every design and creative decision.

Vendor Engagement:

Partner with global suppliers on fabric development and technical innovations.

Compliance:

Ensure all designs and creative outputs meet international regulatory and sustainability standards.

Qualifications

Experience:

10+ years in apparel design and creative leadership, including 5+ years in a global role.

Education:

Degree in Fashion Design, Communication Design, or related field.

Portfolio:

Demonstrated success in creating commercially successful collections and compelling brand storytelling.

Skills:

Strong aesthetic sense and trend forecasting ability

Expertise in technical apparel and sustainable materials

Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, CLO 3D)

Exceptional leadership and communication skills

Mindset:

Strategic thinker with a growth mindset; passionate about sustainability and innovation.

Global Perspective:

Experience working across multiple markets and cultural contexts.

Continuous Learner:

Completion of Cutter & Buck Exec Reading List within first 180 days of employment.

Job Requirements for Design and Creative Director

Degree Apparel Design

10+ Years of Applicable Work Experience within Design, or Product Development

10+ Years of Applicable Management Experience

A proven track record of achieving objectives coupled with a commitment to ethical business practices.

Work Environment

High energy, dynamic work environment where you have quick access to all areas of the organizations.

This role requires onsite availability at our SFC.

Travel, including internationally, is key to success in this role.
