Nurse Practitioner/NP (T2) - Cardiology APN (Per Diem)

Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Team The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Team is looking for a full‑time team member to serve the BIDMC Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Service. Responsibilities include:
Manage complex cardiovascular disorders
Interpret laboratory results and diagnostic images
Perform and document inpatient, outpatient and preoperative/pre‑procedure evaluation including history and physical examinations
Manage patients with electrophysiology disorders: AF, SVT, Bradycardia
Manage patients with ACS: chest pain, STEMI
Oversee patients after cardiac catheterization and PCI
Clinical management of patients after undergoing structural heart procedures: TAVR, Mitral Clip, Watchman
Admit, discharge, and transfer patients within the institution
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide thorough patient care
Job Description Essential Responsibilities
Perform history and physical examinations, formulate care plans, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients and families
Act as an educator and serve as a clinical resource for staff through formal and informal education, literature review, and participation in seminars and conferences
Coordinate the care of patients to provide safe, effective, efficient, and timely patient‑centered care; liaison between visiting nurses, clinical staff, and consult services; consult with physicians or surgeons for complex diagnoses
Document clinical encounters clearly, precisely, and in a timely manner
Work collaboratively with other health professionals to determine health needs of patients and families; demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach to patient care
Provide direct patient care and management for all opioid patients
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree required in Nursing (Master’s degree preferred)
Licensed as a Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support Certificate required
0–1 year related work experience required
MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN (NRSG)
Valid prescriptive authority from both the MA DPH‑DCP and Federal DEA
American Heart Association – Basic Life Support Certificate
Experience with computer systems, including web‑based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area expertise
Experience in pain management
Competencies
Written communications: summarize and communicate complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers
Oral communications: comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to staff, patients, families, and external customers
Knowledge: demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices, and policies and apply them in complex varied situations
Teamwork: lead collaborative teams for larger projects or groups internally and externally to the medical center and across functional areas; results influence management and operations of multiple organizational areas
Customer service: provide a high level of customer service and staff training, meet standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s), and resolve service issues timely and respectfully

Provide patient care to middle‑aged adults (30–60 years)
Provide patient care to elderly (60+ years)
