Organizational Overview The School of Dental Medicine comprises ten administrative offices and four academic departments, including Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry, and Foundational Sciences. The mission is to educate dental care providers and address oral health needs of North Carolina residents through clinical clinics in Ross Hall and community service centers.
Responsibilities
Lead the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology clinical programs at the School.
Educate predoctoral students and advanced education residents in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
Deliver instruction in oral and systemic diseases in didactic and clinical settings.
Assess student competencies and manage patient care services across Ross Hall, faculty practice, hospital dentistry, community centers, and ECU Health, including the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center.
Participate in the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center’s Head and Neck Cancer group and SoDM outreach activities.
Oversee marketing and management of biopsy and teledentistry diagnostic services in compliance with CLIA.
Collaborate with Department Chair, Course Directors, and Assistant Dean for Dental Education to develop innovative curricula.
Assist in quality improvement and compliance efforts with the Department Chair and Associate Dean.
Conduct basic and clinical research to advance scholarship and promotion.
Serve on committees and boards for government agencies, professional societies, and the university.
Prepare accreditation and program documentation.
Represent the School in internal and external venues as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position available as Assistant Professor or higher on a fixed-term or tenure track.
Minimum Education / Experience
DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree.
Completion of an advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology accredited by CODA (or current residents eligible to complete by start date).
Eligibility for dental licensure in North Carolina.
Eligibility for credentialing with ECU School of Dental Medicine and ECU Health Medical Center.
Board certification or eligibility with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at time of employment.
License / Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree.
North Carolina dental license secured prior to first day of employment.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training / Education None specified.
