The Hardware Engineering department leads in the mechanical and electrical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state‑of‑the‑art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.

The Engineering Rapid Build Services (ERBS) department within Hardware Engineering is chartered to deliver agile services. We bridge across Operations and Engineering, providing solutions through the execution of quick‑turn procurement and manufacturing.

ERBS is skilled in special test equipment and program trainers. ERBS executes prototyping and high‑mix/low‑rate procurement and fabrication activities with a focus on in‑house electro‑mechanical packaging, support equipment and liquid cooling systems integration. We strive to minimize cycle times and provide best value through the utilization of dynamic and agile processes.

This role is for a Section Leader of the Engineering Product Execution Support Section for ERBS in Marlborough, MA. The purpose of this section is to support ERBS build and procurement efforts for our engineering customers. The section is an experienced group comprised of Material Planners, Project Leads and Manufacturing Engineers.

This role is located on‑site in Marlborough, MA.

What You Will Do

Coordinate program staffing needs, ensuring that each direct report has suitable work assignment and opportunities for growth and career advancement.

Provide guidance, direction, mentoring for all three roles: Material Planner, Project Lead and Manufacturing Engineer.

Document and manage the processes, roles, and responsibilities of this team, jointly with the development of the larger organizational processes and roles.

Collaborate with the Department Leader and other ERBS Section Leaders in execution of Hardware Engineering goals.

Oversee training to foster growth of direct reports and maintain/improve skillsets within the section.

Foster teamwork and interdependent execution of tasking.

Participate in performance development processes including goal setting, performance reviews and merit allocation.

Directorate and Business Communication flow down.

Support department hiring goals.

Review EACs for work affecting the section.

Technical oversight of program scope supported by section.

Review of program financial metrics.

Review of proposals and support to proposal activities for program growth and new pursuits.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, technology or related field and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience.

Experience leading teams.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

Strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal skills & ability to influence.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Experience in desktop computing tools (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project).

Ability to interface with other engineering disciplines, non‑technical disciplines, and customers to resolve issues.

Self‑motivated with effective oral and written communication skills.

Proven record of providing innovative solutions.

Experience with the writing and execution of proposals.

Thorough understanding of procurement and manufacturing process and MRP systems (SAP/PRISM).

Thorough understanding of Earned Value Management System and the EAC process.

Advanced degree in Manufacturing or Engineering Management.
