Job Summary:
The Senior Director of Credit Products – Specialized is responsible for setting the strategic vision and execution framework within the Specialized Line of Business for first-line credit underwriting and portfolio management.
The role directs a team of Commercial Loan Underwriting and Credit Managers, overseeing individual loan risk grading, portfolio monitoring, and credit risk evaluation within an assigned vertical.
By leveraging advanced portfolio analytics and forward‑looking risk assessment, the Senior Director identifies emerging opportunities and threats, provides key insights to senior leadership, and collaborates with sales, risk, technology, and finance teams to drive responsible growth and enhance product offerings.

Job Responsibilities
Sets the strategic direction for the Specialized Line of Business and prioritizes enhancements for Credit Products.
Oversees and manages the 1st line of defense credit underwriting and portfolio management teams.
Develops and executes credit strategies to optimize underwriting and portfolio management decisions.
Ensures the sufficiency of tools, technology, and staffing to support effective credit underwriting and monitoring.
Partners with Line of Business leaders, Relationship Managers, product partners, and sales teams to drive responsible growth and deliver product and revenue objectives.
Proactively identifies and escalates areas for improvement in credit processes, policies and procedures.
Works directly with external bank clients to support credit‑related needs and objectives.
Collaborates with the second line of defense risk management (Credit Risk) to develop and refine key credit risk and early warning indicators.
Manages implementation and associated controls for underwriting, line management, and targeting criteria.
Monitors portfolio performance by customer segments, providing input on overall profitability and adjusting credit strategies.
Works with legal and compliance teams to ensure strategies and policies adhere to all regulatory requirements.
Provides credit risk reporting and analysis to support data‑driven decision‑making.
Recruits, develops, and trains top credit underwriting and portfolio management talent.
Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions.
Analyzes and resolves problems.
May be responsible for talent management functions including employment, performance evaluations, staff development/training, disciplinary actions, succession planning, and ensuring compliance.
Additional Accountabilities
Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards and completes required compliance trainings.
Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Job Requirements
Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent.
Minimum experience required: 15+ Years of 1st line of defense credit underwriting, portfolio management and risk management experience within the Financial Industry.
10+ years of experience in managing teams of credit analysts and underwriters in the specialty vertical.
10+ years of experience in the direct specialized line of business (Specialized commercial industries, capital markets, corporate commercial banking, etc.).
Experience and expertise in credit bureaus, credit decision engines, credit and cash flow modelling, income/identity verification and loss forecasting.
Job Competencies
Advanced knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations related to credit decisions.
Expertise in credit bureaus, credit decision engines, credit modelling, income/identity verification and loss forecasting.
Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to translate analysis into clear strategies and policies.
Expertise operating at a strategic level as part of a senior management team.
Demonstrates awareness of the industry across the markets served and incorporates that knowledge into analysis and strategy recommendations.
Proven ability to meet tight timelines, estimate level of effort, multi‑task and prioritize workload.
Strong team building and leadership skills.
Demonstrates ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and align relationship building with enterprise goals.
