We’re seeking an experienced, solutions‑driven Sr. Construction Manager to join our team in San Francisco, CA. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, understands complex multi‑phased construction, has strong experience in demolition and tenant improvement work, and can drive daily progress, quality, logistics, safety, and stakeholder coordination across an active campus environment.

As a Sr. Construction Manager embedded at the client’s site, you will report to the Project Manager and Program Manager and work closely with design teams, contractors, inspectors, and operations stakeholders. You’ll serve as the onsite Owner’s Representative, responsible for ensuring the project is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with schedule, quality, and compliance requirements.

In this role, you will lead day‑to‑day field oversight from preconstruction planning through turnover and occupancy. You will anticipate issues before they arise, drive continuous communication, and maintain a strong Owner presence throughout all phases of construction.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily construction activities to ensure full compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain a strong onsite presence to track progress, validate work in place, and proactively resolve field issues.

Support development and review of construction schedules, look‑aheads, critical path items, and sequencing strategies.

Lead site logistics planning, including access/egress, material deliveries, site controls, shutdowns, and operational impacts.

Monitor contractor performance, manpower, sequencing, and workmanship; enact and drive corrective actions as needed.

Review and manage RFIs, submittals, field changes, and technical clarifications to maintain project continuity.

Validate weekly field progress against the contractor’s schedule and support recovery strategies when delays arise.

Enforce safety, ICRA/PCRA requirements, environmental controls, and all site‑specific compliance protocols.

Conduct regular field walks to verify quality of installation, mock‑ups, testing, commissioning, and system readiness.

Coordinate inspections and compliance activities with HCAI, City agencies, IORs, and other authorities having jurisdiction.

Lead and facilitate onsite coordination meetings and maintain strong relationships with contractors, designers, inspectors, and facility stakeholders.

Provide documentation and reporting support, including daily logs, progress photos, cost/change validation, pay app verification, punch lists, commissioning, and closeout activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field or equivalent work experience.

12+ years of hands‑on construction management experience delivering complex projects—healthcare, lab, research, or similarly regulated environments.

Strong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, logistics, site controls, and safety requirements.

Proven experience managing field coordination, daily oversight, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication on active construction sites.

Familiarity with project management and construction tools (Procore, Bluebeam, P6, Unifier, etc.).

Preferred qualifications

CCM, PMP, OSHA‑30, DBIA, CM‑Lean, or similar credentials (preferred but not required).

Experience working in occupied environments, active healthcare or research campuses, and delivering complex tenant improvement projects.

Prior experience serving in an Owner’s Representative capacity.
