Position Summary Responsible for the Electrical Design Engineering team based in Jacksonville, FL, driving excellence in the development of custom electrical switchgear solutions. This role bridges design and manufacturing, ensuring that engineering outputs—primarily dual‑purpose customer submittal and production drawings—meet the needs of our local manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Drive continuous improvement culture, improving quality of engineering and product deliverables.

Assign customer orders to engineering staff; work closely with engineers to ensure deadlines are met and delays are communicated.

Review drawings and BOM for local manufacturing to ensure completeness, accuracy, and inclusion of all necessary information.

Take accountability for the performance of all design engineers; foster personal and professional accountability.

Provide instruction, training, coaching, and mentorship to design engineers.

Ensure engineers follow IEM processes and apply standard components/designs whenever possible.

Collaborate with the director of engineering and local management to promptly address staff or process deficiencies.

Facilitate factory tours, witness tests, and technical meetings.

Support high‑level testing of IEM products and systems in the local test facility.

Walk factory floors at local plants to work with production teams and inspect equipment in progress; follow up with necessary parties as needed.

Travel to customer sites or other IEM facilities occasionally for engineering surveys, training, engineering department meetings, technical project meetings, or other project‑related business (≤ 15% of travel).

Qualifications

Four‑year college degree in Electrical Engineering.

At least 5 years of experience in design engineering related to switchgear, power generation equipment, custom control systems, or similar.

At least 2 years in a leadership role providing mentorship to design engineers.

Strong leadership and technical capabilities.

Knowledge of LV and MV switchgear from 120 V to 38 kV.

Experience designing custom control systems with automation elements within power products.

Understanding of NRTL certifications and UL listings.

Functional testing experience.

Compensation The salary range for this role is $195,200 – $237,900 per year, based on location, experience, and qualifications.
